Thirsty A Lot? Have To Pee Frequently? You Might Be Diabetic
It might be wise to take a blood sugar test if you suspect you have high blood sugar.
Having high blood sugar is a condition where a person’s blood sugar (glucose) levels remain high most of the time. This condition is called diabetes. According to the American Diabetes Association, around 86 million people have elevated blood sugar. This leads to the development of diabetes.
Normal blood sugar level is less than 100mg while fasting and less than 140 two hours after eating. Diabetics’ blood sugar levels run higher than this on a regular basis. Low blood sugar is the opposite problem when blood sugar levels are consistently low.
The good news is you can receive a blood sugar test in the convenience and comfort of your own home. Especially if you have mobility issues, it’s nice to have a medical practitioner come to you. We do a simple blood test to accurately measure your blood sugar levels. Then we determine if you have diabetes and prescribe treatment.
We also visit your home for regular blood sugar tests if you have difficulty doing it yourself. It is very important to test regularly and manage your blood sugar levels if you are diabetic. Diabetes is a serious medical condition that should not go unchecked.

What Are Symptoms for Diabetes (High Blood Sugar)?

- get sick more often, due to a weakened immune system

What Is a High Blood Sugar Test?
The following tests determine if blood sugar levels are high:
Fasting plasma blood sugar test: This tests blood sugar levels after a person has fasted for 8 hours. Levels 126mg or higher are considered high.
Oral blood sugar test: This test is also given after fasting for 8 hours. This test is performed by giving the patient a sugary drink. Their sugar level is tested after two hours. Anything over 200 is considered high.
Random test: This is when a doctor tests a person’s blood sugar randomly. Any result over 200mg combined with other symptoms of diabetes can indicate a problem.
A1C Test: This blood test is the most definitive of all, because it shows the average blood sugar levels over the past 3 month. The A1C test is also called a glycohemoglobin or HbA1c test. This test is often used in diabetes management, because it shows someone’s blood sugar trends.
When to Get Medical Help:
Anytime you are experiencing the symptoms of diabetes, you need to seek a medical professional’s help. Diabetes is a serious condition that can lead to various complications. It can also damage organs like the kidneys, negatively affect the eyesight, cause nerve damage and cause poor circulation.
How Is Diabetes (High Blood Sugar) Treated?
How you treat high blood sugar depends on several factors. For example, if a patient has excessively high blood sugar, they might need insulin. However, type 2 diabetes, the most common type of diabetes, is often treated with medication, diet changes, and physical activity. It often takes all three elements to successfully lower blood sugar levels.
